Bachmann MEA Open Wagon 38-062AMEA open box .JPG (41708 bytes)

Redundant HEA hopper wagon chassis were used in MEA construction and a steel box body fitted. Early conversions were ordered by Railfreight and these were subsequently divided up equally between Mainline Freight, Loadhaul and Transrail. Mainline and Loadhaul ordered further batches and, after they inherited all three fleets, EWS continued to place orders for them. The most recent were built in 2004. The wagons have been used for coal and limestone traffic.

The model was an early introduction by Bachmann arriving as it did in 1995. However, in 2004 the model was upgraded to the Blue Riband standard, using the new chassis produced for the MFA model the previous year. The latest release is in EWS maroon livery and carries the number 391362.
