Bachmann 8-plank Wagon 37-134A
While the 7-plank wagon was by far the most numerous used for coal before the Second World War, in order to carry greater loads, some companies ordered 8-plank wagons. Bachmann had no Mainline equivalent tooling to use and so the 8-plank was not added to the Bachmann range until it launched its Blue Riband range in 1998. Bachmann produced two versions - one with an end door and one with a fixed end. The current model belongs to the former group, having end doors. It has a weathered red and blue livery belonging to Thomas W. Ward Ltd and advertising Ketton Cement. The wagon's number is S88.
