Graham Farish 'Conflat' 377-341AGF Conflat B B740736 & Birds Eye.JPG (53054 bytes)

A new type of container, specifically to carry quick-frozen foods on pallets, was introduced early in 1958. These containers were slightly longer than the AF and required a slightly longer 'Conflat' to carry them in pairs. Thus the 'Conflat B' was born. However, much confusion surrounds the size of both the wagon and the containers it carried. Incidentally, when Trix introduced their 4mm scale Birds Eye containers in 1960, they were to a realistic size and they also made a model of the longer 'Conflat B' to carry them.

The model reviewed here is of the 'Conflat A' masquerading as a 'Conflat B' (numbered B740736) and with two of the AF size containers marked as AFPs, both in Birds Eye colours. These are numbered AFP66390B and APF66405B, numbers which belonged to two containers in a batch built at Swindon between December 1958 and July 1959. This is a beautifully printed model and it is likely to sell very quickly.
