Hornby K Class Pullman Cars
It takes some keeping up with new releases of Hornby's super-detailed Pullman cars. The
speed at which new versions arrive is evidence of how quickly they are selling. Since the
models first appeared in 2003 the total number 85 versions of the K Class 8-wheel type
have been made - that is an average of more than nine new versions each year. Many of
these have been produced exclusively for train sets and train packs although often the
earlier models of 1975 are used to keep the price of the set low.
There are both models with the representation of original matchboard sides and models
with smooth sides representing real cars that had their sides plated over with steel or
aluminium sheets. Another variation catered for with the models is that some have the
original white roof while others have their roof painted grey as they were in later days.
Since the Pullman cars were last reviewed, the following models have been released:
1st parlour Leona R4478 - matchboard sides and white roof
1st parlour Onyx R4483 - plated sides and grey roof
