TMC/Bachmann - 'Heartbeat Aidensfield Arms
Britains best loved television drama 'Heartbeat', set in rural Yorkshire during the 1960s, follows the life of a village police officer as he goes about solving crimes in a small community situated in the quaint village of Aidensfield. Adding to its popularity has been the use of 1960s' pop songs as background music and also the use of cars, buses, lorries etc., that fit the period.
Over time the show has evolved into an ensemble drama, with the motorcycle-riding
Aidensfield village bobby, continuing to be central to the story-lines. Over the many
years that 'Heartbeat' has been on our televisions the characters have changes as people
have come and gone - as in real life. However, while the cast may have changed, the
setting and the village buildings, that have featured in the stories down the years, have
remained the same.
The film-set for the series has been the village of Goathland, within the Borough of Scarborough and located in the North York Moors National Park. However, unacceptable pressure on the village led to more of the later stories being largely filmed on the nearby town of Whitby, the village of Goathland continuing to provide a link. The village pub which features in many of the stories is the Aidensfield Arms and all external filming takes place outside the Goathland Hotel (with suitably changed signs).
TMC, famous for their customised railway models, is now based in the neighbouring village of Beck Hole and recently started commissioning Bachmann to produce for them, 4mm scale resin models of local buildings. Here we have the Goathland Hotel
in the guise of the Aidensfield Arms.
The Bachmann Scenecraft 00 scale TMC Exclusive model (44-043Y) is priced £49.99 (+p&p) and is available from
