Graham Farish SPA Steel Coil Wagon
![]()
The SPA is a 2-axle open steel plate wagon, fitted with bolsters and operated by EWS. Similar wagons are the SDAs and SEAs. They were built by BREL at Shildon and Ashford between 1979 and 1981 and used to carry steel coil, rods, plate, tube and wire. Early livery was Railfreight red but later they appeared in EWS maroon. Some became ZAAs and are today used by Network Rail for infrastructure work and these are painted yellow.
The models seen here are 377-725 SPA in Railfreight red livery with coil load and numbered 460890 and 377-730 ZAA in 'Dutch' livery as DC460323 without a load. These are from new tooling and it should be noted that the original price stated of £21 was incorrect. It has now been reduced to £14.95 for the SPA and £12.95 for the ZAA
