The aluminium bodied air-braked HAA hopper wagons were built at BREL Shildon Wagon Works between 1973 and 1974. They had a 32.5 ton capacity and were built for the 'merry-go-round' trains that transferred coal from the mines to the power stations. Nearly 10,000 of this design were built and so intense was their use that the wagon bodies usually wore out after 15 years and had to be replaced.

Our model (373-902A) represents a wagon from the initial Railfreight fleet and carries the number 358227.
