Graham Farish Coke Wagons
![]()
Coke wagons would have been seen around the coke plants or delivering coke to factories. Coke was also used domestically. Being a lot lighter than coal, it could be carried in wagons with a greater volume and so the height of wagons was increased by the addition of extra planks, generally with small gaps between them. The extended wagon could have been a 7-plank or an 8-plank and we have examples of both here. These are 7-plank Exeter Gas Co. No.5 (377-175) and 8-plank Bedwas Coke No.621 (377-205).
