Graham Farish BR Mk1 Coaches
One of the great successes of the Bachmann 00 model range has been the BR Mk1 coaches. When they arrived in 1999, they proved to be a great improvement on the Hornby Mk1s which had been around for almost 40 years. Bachmann moved quickly to expand the number of coach types and effectively cornered the Mk1 model coach market.
Its N
gauge coaches it had inherited when it took over the Graham Farish company and, although
they initially made improvements to the models, they were still not up to the quality that
Bachmann had set as their target. 2010 saw the release of the first of a completely new
range of N gauge Mk1 coaches and, once again, Bachmann have widened the range, ensuring
that they will also command this lucrative market in the smaller scale. This was a huge
missed opportunity for other N gauge manufacturers. While you can mix goods wagons in a
train, when building passenger trains, you are far more likely to buy all the units of the
same brand.
