Hornby RailRoad Ex-CR 0-4-0ST
The days when Hornby kept the same models in their catalogue for endless years, went in the 1980s , but there is one exception and that is the BR black ex-Caledonian Railway 0-4-0ST No.56025 Smokey Joe (R3064).
The basic model arrived in 1980 in a train set and in CR blue livery. Since then it has been released in numerous colour schemes, which have been mainly non-authentic. Smokey Joe first appeared in 1983 and just stayed. Up to the end of 1999 over 55,000 had been made and countless more have been produced over the last 12 years. Now it is being transferred from the standard range of models to the RailRoad series of budget models. Two years ago it was priced £34.25 but the following year, while still in the catalogue, it did not appear on the price list. With the transfer to the RailRoad series the price has dropped to £24.99.
