Hornby Flying Scotsman USA Tour Train Pack
This train pack celebrates the tour of the USA by Flying Scotsman in 1969. The pack
contains the current version of the A3 model in its LNER livery, as originally preserved.
It correctly has a double tender, bell and 'cowcatcher', required for its US tour, and
comes with observation car No.SC281 in umber and cream. The pack is a limited edition of
2000 pieces (R2953).
The Hornby Flying Scotsman model with two tenders was last seen in 1995. It had appeared with both tenders in full LNER green two years earlier, but in 1995 it was re-released with the second tender painted blue & grey. The real locomotive gained its second tender after it was bought by Alan Pegler and the extra tender was converted to be a water carrier. This had become necessary due to the disappearance of railside water tanks following the removal of steam locomotives from Britain's railways.
