PCAs are a little confusing as the code applied to a variety of cement tank wagons that differ considerably in external appearance. The number carried by this model places it in a batch of wagons designed by Metalair for Blue Circle Cement. They had a lightweight barrel which allowed for a higher payload and faster discharge. This superseded the 'depressed-centre' design. Our actual wagon was built by Powell Duffryn in Cardiff, probably in 1984.

The cement tank was modelled by Graham Farish in 1993 and four versions of it were marketed. Since 2000, Bachmann have produced a further 20 versions. The current one illustrated is in weathered Blue Circle pale grey livery and carries the number BCC11017.
