Bachmann Class 24
32-430BBuilt originally at BR Derby Works form 1957, the Class 24 locomotives were for mixed traffic and were introduced to British Railways in 1958. subsequent orders also involved Crewe and Darlington workshops and 151 were built before the design was modified to produce the Class 25. Withdrawals of the class started in the late 1960s and had been completed by the Autumn of 1980. Four members of the class have been preserved.
Bachmann introduced their model in 2001. It includes a red fan seen beneath the roof exhaust grill. It is 'DCC ready' and has a 21-pin socket. The model has NEM pockets on the bogies, to allow coupling exchange and the 'extras' bag contains hand rails for either side of the cab doors, steps, code discs, imitation screw couplings and all the pipes and cables needed for the cab fronts. The review model is in BR green and carries the number D6051.
