Bachmann 12T Ex-LMS Ventilated Van 37-802B
The LMS ventilated vans had corrugated steel end walls and slightly flatter roofs. Orders for 1,300 plywood-sided and 1,000 planked vans were placed immediately after Nationalisation and these carried a B prefix to the number.
This is the ex-Mainline LMS van dating originally from 1975. It was reintroduced by Bachmann in 1992 and this Blue Riband version arrived in 2001. The actual vans had a single sliding door on each side but on the model they are fixed shut, as they are part of the single moulding. This is the eleventh example since 2001 and is in BR brown and numbered M509355.
