Hornby Imperial Airways Train Pack
R2952Imperial Airways, operating out of Croydon Airport, was formed in the 1920s. It had flying boats moored at Southampton and in the late 1930s there was a need for a train service to carry passengers to the flying boats from London. This train pack sets out to replicate this service using several of the items of rollingstock associated with the train.
The power is supplied by a Southern Railway Class T9 in olive green livery
and numbered 338. There is a type K Pullman 1st class kitchen car with matchboard sides
named Ibis, a Southern Railway olive green Maunsell brake composite coach numbered
6583 and an SR olive green bogie luggage van numbered 2291. The train pack is a limited
edition of 1500 pieces and comes with a numbered certificate.
