Graham Farish TEA Tank Wagons
Where large quantities of oil needed to be carried by rail, bogie tank wagons of 100 ton capacity could be used. These started to appear in 1966 when Shell-Mex, BP and Esso were forming block trains of them. They also rode better than the four-wheeled tank wagons. With the arrival of the new 100T bogie tank wagons, the small 2-axle tankers quickly disappeared from trains carrying petroleum products.
Graham Farish introduced their model of a TEA in 1983 and produced eight versions of it. Bachmann reintroduced the model in 2004, since when 19 versions have reached the shops. Recent releases are a weathered BP black version numbered BPO83588 (373-554B) and another weathered one in Shell livery as 87321 (373-555B).
