Bachmann Ivatt Class 2MT 2-6-0
32-829AThis is the Ivatt mixed traffic design of 1946. 128 of the class were built between December 1946 and September 1952. Construction continued under British Railways after Nationalisation in 1948. The introduction of diesel multiple units and branch line closures resulted in the class being withdrawn between 1961 and 1967, a year before the end of steam on British Railways. Seven locomotives have survived to work on heritage railways.
The model was first released in 2007 and launched before the model railway press at Preston Docks, on the Ribble Steam Railway, on 12th July that year, in front of preserved locomotive 46441. Each model is fitted with an 8-pin socket making it 'DCC ready'. They have locomotive drive, tender cab and pipework detail. To enable closer coupling of the loco and tender, an alternative drawbar is provided in the accessories bag which comes with the loco when new. The current model is No.46446 and is in BR black with late insignia.
