Hornby Scottish Clans
A total of 10 members of the 6MT Class were built before production was halted and further orders cancelled. A batch was to have been built for the Southern Region but these were not started. Designed at Derby to a Riddles concept, the class was built at Crewe during 1951 and 1952. They were to have replaced ageing 'Jubilees' and 'Black 5s' on express duties, on lines over which the use of the heavier 'Britannias' was restricted. All were allocated to Scotland and so the adoption of clan names was appropriate. Hornby were able to use much of their 'Britannia' tooling in the construction of the 'Clans' and the first of the models were launched in 2009. Two members of the class released that year and the recently released R2925 72005 Clan Macgregor brings the total to three.
