Private owner open wagons have become a cult collecting subject, encouraging manufacturers to expand production of them. Hornby uses a mixture of tooling which includes its own wagon designs of the 1970s and 1980s, its 9ft wheelbase wagons of 1995 and wagons formerly tooled by Airfix. The following are former Airfix models and consist of one 5-plank high goods wagon and two 7-plank coal wagons.

The 5-plank wagon is R6493 in the black livery of Nook & Wyrley Collieries and numbered 113. The 7-plank wagons are R6494 Consolidated Fisheries No.403 and R6497 North's Navigation Collieries No.3000 - both in red-brown livery.
