Hornby Large Mineral WagonH Large Mineral AAC .JPG (55829 bytes)

The large 20 ton steel mineral wagon now used by Hornby was tooled by Airfix in 1979. The tooling passed to Palitoy in 1981 and to Dapol in 1985. From them it passed to Hornby in 1996. The first Hornby model produced from the tooling was released two years later. Since then, 14 versions of the model have been available and here we have the 15th. R6498 is black and carries the inscription 'AAC Anthracite' and the number T300. It represents one operated by Amalgamated Anthracite Collieries Ltd of Swansea.
