Hornby Commonwealth Collection
This is another collection started last year which makes additional use of the A4 tooling. These models have now been converted with DCC plug connectors between loco and tender.
Five of the A4 Class were named after the five major members of the British Commonwealth and last year Hornby released 60012 Commonwealth of Australia and 60013 Dominion of New Zealand. This year we have R2909 60009 Union of South Africa and R2910 60010 Dominion of Canada. Both are in BR green with late insignia on their tenders. This leaves only Empire of India to come, presumably next year. Of course, if Hornby had beaten Bachmann to producing a model of the 'Jubilee' Class, they would have had a host of British Commonwealth names to play with, from Aden to Zanzibar or from Straits Settlements to Gilbert & Ellis Islands - 85 Commonwealth names in all!
