Having gone to great expense to develop well detailed and accurate models in their 00 scale Branchline range, it is the policy of Bachmann to use that experience and knowledge gained to then produce an N gauge version for their Graham Farish catalogue. The 00 twin 'Intermodals' were released in 2001 and the N gauge version followed in 2008.
Like the real
thing, these come as a pair of bogie flat wagons, which usually share the same European
style running number. They are intended to be semi-permanently joined and are designed to
carry 45ft 'Swap Body' containers. Unlike the 00 models which have diecast wagon frames,
the N gauge ones are moulded in plastic. We have here two examples. The first is a pair of
black Railfreight Distribution wagons numbered 33 70 4938 004-9 and carrying two white
45ft Axis containers numbered AXIU716451 and AX16370 (377-351A). The second example has a
pair of green EWS wagons numbered 33 70 4938 510-3 and carrying two 45ft dark blue Malcolm
Logistics containers numbered WHMU450015 and WHMU450020 (377-354).
