These were outer suburban trains, built at BR Derby from 1958 and made up of DMBS+TSL+DMCL cars. Having produced an 00 scale version, released in 2007, Bachmann turned their attention to an N gauge one for the Graham Farish range.
The units have a 6-pin NEM 651 DCC socket fitted and it is the first ready-to-run British N gauge model released that is able to accommodate a LokSound sound decoder and 13mm speaker (speaker frame included). The models also have a detailed interior, all wheel pick-up, a flywheel driven motor, NEM coupling pockets and working lights. The review model is in BR Rail blue and the cars are numbered M52051, M51936 and M59386. This model has the small roof box, but large roof box versions are also being modelled.
