Bachmann 3-plank BR Brown 37-930A
The 3-plank wagon was considered to be a 'medium' goods wagon, as opposed to a low-sided one. But, despite this, amongst other things, it was used for the transportation of containers. They were particularly found on the LMS and had drop-down sides and fixed ends. New LMS designed examples continued to arrive in 1948 and 1949, totalling over 10,000 in all. BR produced an all steel variant in 1950.
The 3-plank wagons had little value as revenue earning stock and ended up as ballast carriers in the Engineer's Department. This model was originally tooled by Kader for the Mainline range and dates from 1982. It was an early re-release by Bachmann. The current version is Bauxite brown and numbered B457203. The BR container it carries is also in Bauxite and is numbered BD473248.
