Graham Farish Class 31 BRc 371-104GF Class 31.JPG (47876 bytes)

The Graham Farish Class 31 arrived in 1995 and was immediately available in three different liveries. A further four were released before the company was sold to Bachmann. Since 2000, Bachmann have upgraded the mechanism and added another five versions. The model featured here is in BR green livery as D5762.

The Class 31s have proved to be amongst the most versatile introduced to British Railways during the transition from steam to diesel traction. Over 250 had been built by the end of their construction run in 1962. There were heavy withdraws of them in the 1980s, but many found their way into preservation. Some still remain in use on the national network.
