Hornby Pendolino Coaches
The seven models required for the Hornby Pendolino were expensive to produce especially
when one considers that the model was principally aimed at the junior market, where it was
hoped it would achieve the popularity that the HST enjoyed thirty years before. In a sense
it was a compromise as, while seen as a product for the train set market, it was also
realised that it would appeal to many adult modellers and collectors. Consequently, a
higher level of detail was added than normally expected on trains specifically produced
for children.
The set of models that make up a complete train were released in 2007 and here we have further versions of some of the intermediate coaches. These are: trailer standard open '68845' (R4272A), standard open '69745' (R4274C), standard open '69945' (R4274D) and 1st open '69445' (R4273A).
