Hornby BRc Class J94 68010 R2855J94.jpg (33439 bytes)

The Class 94 model dates from 1984 when first released by Dapol, who produced seven versions of it. Hornby took over the tooling in 1996 and have so far released a further 21 versions - this being the 21st.

The model is in BR plain black livery with late decals and warning flashes. It carries the number '68010' and is in pristine condition. This is the fourth example produced by Hornby in this form.

The Class J94, strictly speaking, refers only to the batch of locomotives bought by the LNER after the Second World War, and passed into British Railways ownership in 1948. The loco was designed by Riddles for the war effort at a time when the railways were under government control. Many others went to the nationalised coal industry and for other industrial use. It was a powerful engine and was made in batches by various locomotive builders in order to speed up production.
