Hornby Class 09 BRc Green D3721 R2872
Many were surprised that Hornby invested in this super detailed model when Bachmann already had one on the market. However, the Hornby model, when it arrived in 2005, was even more detailed and has proved to be a superb model.
The first 0-6-0 diesel shunter to come out of Margate was the Tri-ang model of 1956 of which there were both electric and clockwork versions. The proportions of the model were rather crude and it did not have the characteristic outside frames as it used the standard 0-6-0 chassis designed for the 'Jinty'. The second 08 model was released in 1976 and, while it was a better shape, it still shared the 'Jinty' chassis, and so, again, no outside frames. This version remains in production today, although recent releases have been in the RailRoad range. So, in the main range, it was replaced in 2005 by the current excellent model.
The present one is in BR green with late decals and carrying the number 'D3721'.
