Bachmann BR 13T Sand Tippler 37-354A13T Sand Tippler BR grey.jpg (21504 bytes)

In 1957, British Railways built a batch of 100 13 ton all-steel wagons for the transportation of sand. As sand is heavier than coal, the wagons had lower sides. They had a 10' wheelbase chassis with vacuum brake gear, oil axleboxes and Oleo hydraulic buffers. They were in use up until the early 1970s and most were then scrapped. Our example is in 'unfitted' grey and numbered B746724.
