The new Bachmann Presflo wagon is a beautiful model with loads of detail. The sample for review is the only one modelled so far from a batch of wagons built for a private company. The other three are all British Railways stock, leased out to companies. In this case it is a wagon owned by the Cement Marketing Co. and branded for Snowcrete use. The wagon is numbered PF100.
Associated Portland Cement ordered their fleet of 'Presflos' from Butterley Engineering and Metro-Cammell Ltd in 1960. These were to the same design as the BR wagons. They were initially painted yellow but, to hide the cement deposits, they were repainted in grey. They were loaded through two top hatches and unloaded under pressure - thus the strengthened sides. They were replaced from 1984 onwards and all had gone by 1991.
