The sale of sets of three wagons of similar type would appear to have been successful,
judging by the fact that both Hornby and Bachmann have followed this policy for a long
time now. To date, Bachmann have released 15 sets of 14T tank wagons and it is interesting
to note that a set of three weathered black Esso tank wagons has now been released four
times over a period of five years.
The first set (37-666) arrived in 2005 and the second (37-666A) in 2006. Then in 2008 the third (37-666B) was shown in the catalogue and released early in 2009 in the standard navy blue box. This set we reviewed last April. Then, towards the end of 2009 the third set was re-released in the new navy and red box, the contents remaining unchanged.
One of the tankers has the large raised manhole cap and cross stays and is numbered 1231. The other two have ladders, gantry and the smaller flat manhole cap and these are numbered 1869 and 1855.
