The 37s entered the Bachmann stud in 2002 and, since then, too many to count versions have been produced. The story of the Class is a complicated one due to various modifications to some locos which created a number of subclasses. The current model belongs to subclass 37/4, Bachmann's first model of which was produced in 2006.
These were refurbished locomotives. In 1984, refurbishment was seen as an alternative to locomotive replacement as it would give the British Railways Board a greater number of 'new' machines within the budget available. Of a class of 308 locomotives, 135 underwent refurbishment at Crewe and subclass 37/4 locomotives were modified for passenger work.
This model is in Railfreight triple grey livery and branded for use in the Petroleum Sector. It is No.37428 David Lloyd George and has the name printed onto the model's sides, but etched metal nameplates are also provided. The bag of detail, for the purchaser to add, contains snowploughs as well as the cab front cables and hoses.
