Bachmann 12T BR Standard Vent Van
38-160A
By the early 1950s, British Railways were looking beyond completing wagon orders inherited from the 'Big Four' and had started to build their own standard wagons which were needed to replace older stock. The series of vans they developed had much in common with former GWR designs but with ideas learnt from the other three companies. These included corrugated end walls and a single vent at each end, which were typical of LMS and many LNER ventilated vans. The hinged doors were typical of the GWR and SR designs.
Our Standard ventilated van is in Bauxite brown and numbered B755845.
