Hornby VDA Balfour Beatty R6452VDA Balfour Beatty.jpg (45897 bytes)

Hornby's model of a VDA van dates from 1980 when the company was in the process of 'upping' its game in the light of competition from Airfix GMR and Palitoy's Mainline Railways. Since then, there have been 25 versions of it including some interesting modern liveries.

This model is in the dark blue and white livery of the Balfour Beatty Rail who are one of the UK's largest track renewal companies. It lays replacement track on commuter lines, main lines and mixed freight routes. They were also one of the contractors building the Kent high speed route ((High Speed 1). They are also a leading company involved in signal replacement.
