Hornby Pullman Bar Car R4387
Originally built in 1924 for the Pullman Car Company by the
BRC&W Co., it was a kitchen 1st car named Octavia. In 1925 it moved by rail to
Italy and operated between Milan and Nice carrying the number '57'. It returned to the
Britain in 1928 and was overhauled, at the same time being given the name Diamond.
It was still a kitchen 1st when it was damaged by enemy action. In 1946 it was rebuilt by
the Pullman Car Company in Brighton and, at this point, became a bar car with a bar
counter and stools. It was given the name 'Trianon Bar' and later 'One Hundred Bar' and,
later still, 'New Century Bar'. It was further remodelled in 1955 and renamed Diamond
'Daffodil Bar', as modelled. It formed part of the consist of the South Wales Pullman
until 1961.
