Hornby 20T tank wagon - WD R6360B
The former Airfix 20 ton tank wagon dates from 1979 and Airfix made three versions of it. The tooling passed to Palitoy in 1981 and they added two more versions to their Mainline Railways range. In 1985 Dapol bought the tooling and, besides selling old Airfix and Mainline stock repackage, also used the tools to produce at least six versions themselves. In 1996 the tooling was bought by Hornby who have released 17 versions, many of them with identical livery but carrying different running numbers. This applies to the model under review which has now appeared with three different numbers, the current one being '342'. The War Department used Ammonia in munitions manufacture.
