Bachmann 24T Ore Hopper Wagon 37-502A
The original Iron ore hopper wagon Bachmann inherited from the Mainline Railways range and it was one of the first subjects put back into use by Bachmann in 1990. In 2001, a better detailed model brought the subject into the Blue Riband range. This is the sixth version of this and the third in BR grey livery. It carries the number 'B435339L'.
Soon after Nationalisation of the railways a lot of iron ore hopper wagons were built. This was one of a batch of 1000 vehicles designed earlier by Charles Roberts for the British Steel Corporation. They were originally built with a 22 ton capacity but this one has been upgraded to 24 tons. They did not have a long life on the national network, being replaced by Iron Ore 'Tipplers' and larger hoppers.
