Hornby GWR Clerestory Coaches
The original Tri-ang short clerestory coaches were released with the Dean 'Single' Lord
of the Isles in 1961 and are still in production for the occasional train set. The
longer and more realistic clerestory coaches arrived in 1982 and, with one exception, have
always been released in GWR livery (the one exception was a Midland Railway pair in 1984).
Various GWR liveries have appeared on the two models (a composite or all third and a brake
third). The recently released pair are in a livery with minimal lining and with the 1934
'shirt button' GWR monogram.
Described as a 'composite' in the catalogue, R4364 is an all-third and numbered '3242'. The brake third (R4365) is numbered '3423'. Unlike the earlier short models, referred to above, these 'scale' clerestory coaches have interior units which have teak-effect compartment walls.
