The tradition of one wagon each year being produced as a limited edition, carrying the Hornby trademark, was started in 1992 with a 5-plank open wagon. This tradition has continued every year since then, with a different subject chosen each year. This year the subject is the pitched roof lime wagon of 1973. This uses the original 5-plank wagon body with a separate moulding forming the roof section. The model has been produced as a limited edition of 3500 in red and yellow - red for the wagon body and yellow for the roof section. The sides of the wagon carry, in yellow, the Hornby logo and '2009'. The corner irons of the body are picked out in black.
