Bachmann Mogo Van GWR 37-778A
The 'Mogo' van was one of the former Mainline wagons adopted by Bachmann in 1990 and first released the following year. It had joined the Mainline catalogue in 1981. Bachmann continued to use the Mainline tool until 1999 but then retooled it as a Blue Riband wagon in time for 2001.
'Mogo' vans were built by the GWR for transporting motor vehicles. To facilitate this they had a pair of doors at each end and drop-down flaps that rested on the buffer stocks and closed the gap between wagons. Vehicles were driven in from a platform on the end of the siding and were taken through the train from one van to the next. As each van filled, the flaps were lifted and the end doors closed. The process on arrival was the reverse except that the delivery platform was at the other end so the vehicles could be driven off forwards.
The current model is the ninth that Bachmann have produced using the new tooling. It is in GWR dark grey livery and carries the running number '126450'.
