Bachmann 10T Salt Van 33-182Salt Van.JPG (45918 bytes)

The salt van was an early addition to the Bachmann wagon range, arriving in 1992. Since then, 18 versions of it have appeared and Snowdrift Salt is the latest of these. It has a pleasant green livery and is numbered '306'.

The wagon belonged to Stafford Salt & Alkali Co. Ltd, which was considered to be the most important salt works in Stafford. The company had formed in 1893 and the wagons carried salt out to ports where fish and other food preservation was being undertaken. The company was wound up in 1961. The wagon carries the livery it was wearing when photographed in 1950.
