This is a 'Lowfit' in BR brown livery and numbered 'B450262'. These were based on an LMS design and this is one of the first 400 to be built, appearing in 1950. This was the only batch built by BR with wooden sides. After this they were of an all-steel construction. They were used for carrying vehicles and bulky loads but could not be used for containers as they did not have securing chains.
