Bachmann Class 57 32-754
This model introduces us to the latest DRS 'Compass' livery which Bachmann have produced on 57011. The model also shows the locomotive in a special finish with white wheel rims and silver painted buffer heads as though it is going on display at some event or other. The printed detail and painted pipe and cable runs are excellent but sadly the bright brass pickups seen through the bogie frames are a little distracting and need a dab of black paint to 'lose' them. There is a bag of bits for the bufferbeams but no diagram showing what goes where. Not everyone is an expert or has books to show them. One coupling is fitted and the other is provided to fit if you wish to.
The model is now fitted with a 21-pin decoder, ready for the possible provision of sound. It also has a switch beneath the fuel tank which can be used to switch-off the red tail lights when the loco is pulling a train. The switch is recessed to prevent it from being seen and a small probe is required to flick it across. All in all, it is a very attractive model
