Hornby Class 56 R2781XS
Hornby's first diesel to receive a sound unit is the Class 56 which appears as 56127 in Train Load Coal livery (56125 had been planned when the catalogue was printed). The general opinion is that the sound is OK and, with so many people around who are familiar with Class 56 locos, that can't be bad.
The sound system has been developed in association with ESU giving the model the heavy throb of the diesel's motors, changing note as the model pulls away. The sound was recorded from a real Class 56 locomotive and included the noise of the air horn.
