Hornby Class 20s Class 20 BR green D8053 4.JPG (44823 bytes)

Since acquiring the Lima tooling, Hornby have been steadily working their way through the former Lima diesel locomotives, improving and re-releasing them. To date, we have had the classes 37, 43, 47, 55, 59, 66, 67, 73, 101, 121, 156, and the AEC railcar and parcels railcar. Now the Class 20 has arrived and the Class 87 is promised.

The Class 20 was always one of the better Lima models and while it cannot compare with the quality of modelling of recent years, it provides a useful addition to the Hornby fleet.Class 20 BR blue 20035 3.JPG (40556 bytes)

Three versions are immediately available. These are: D8053 in BR green livery (R2762), 20035 in BR blue livery (R2761) and 20118 in Railfreight grey livery (R2760). While the performance of the model has been improved, the most obvious changes externally are the new slim-line couplers in NEM pockets, the absence of any unpainted plastic surfaces and the separately applied handrails along the sides and across the rear.
