These two wagons reflect businesses in Oxfordshire and Suffolk. Both wagons are fitted with the new style Dapol chassis which incorporates NEM coupling pockets. They have the new metal wheels and have coal load mouldings.

W.Pipe & Company (IP5) operated from Derby Road Station in Ipswich and hired their wagons from William Morris Ltd. All of Morris's wagons were painted black but sometimes, as in this case, the names of the longer term hirers were painted in white. W.Pipe, a coal merchant, had three wagons on hire and these were numbered 20, 21 and 22. The coal came from Hardwick Collieries at both Hasland and Heath, via the LMS and LNER respectively.

I know little about A.T.Pearse (OX9) other than he would probably have been a coal merchant operating from the station yard at Skipton-under-Wychwood near Burford in Oxfordshire and was served by the GWR.

200 of each type has been produced for 1E Promotionals by Dapol, with each having an individually numbered printed certificate. The wagons are available at £8 each + £1.45 postage from a number of dealers including KRS, Unit 3, Rook Tree Farm, Hulcote, Milton Keynes, MK17 8BW, Dave Wills, 41 Crow Hill Road, Garlinge, Margate, Kent, CT9 5PF or from the North Norfolk Railway Station Shop on Platform 1 at Sheringham Station, Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8RA. Wagons can be purchased on line from www.krsmodelrailways.com or www.nnrailway.co.uk .
