Bachmann VDA 29T 38-143VDA EWS 200731 38-143.JPG (38079 bytes)

The Hornby VDA was released in 1980 and over the last 28 years has ventured into many different liveries. Now that we have the more accurate Bachmann model it is possible to see the deficiencies in the earlier one. The Hornby model shared a chassis with two other completely different subjects and it is here that the greatest differences will be seen. There was also daylight above the wheels which has been eliminated on the Bachmann model thanks to a simpler pivoting axles. The hand brake levers and tie rod are separately fitted and the metal buffers are 'sharper' than would be the case with plastic ones.

Our sample is in EWS maroon livery and carries the number '200731'.
