Hornby Lyddle End
In 2008, the Hornby 2mm scale Lyddle End range has again mimicked what was produced earlier in the year in the larger 4mm scale Skaledale range. These are cold cast resin buildings which have been hand-painted, Over the few years they have been made, the standard of detail has risen.
Lyddle End East Station - This emulates 'Skaledale East'
Station and includes the station building (N8798), goods shed (N8852), water tower (N8851)
and signal box (N8853). With the exception of the signal box, which appears to be of
timber construction, the buildings are of stone. Particularly nice are the representations
of wrought iron window frames and the appearance of the water in the tank at the top of
the water tower.
Hornby Lyddle End Farm - Four buildings make up the latest farm and these are: the farm house (N8778), tractor and plough shed (N8781), outhouse (N8779) and dutch barn (N8780). The first three buildings are of stone construction with dark grey tiled roofs. The farmhouse itself is large and substantially built with mullioned windows and dripstone lintels. The dutch barn is well stocked with bales of straw.
Hornby Lyddle
End Industrial - Three buildings can be called 'industrial' and these are an
office block (N8768) and northlight factory extension (N8769) and a modern industrial unit
(N8770) as found on modern industrial estates. The first two look rather familiar and seem
to have been influenced by the Hornby headquarters at Westwood, outside Margate.
Hornby Lyddle End High Street - seven of the recently released Lyddle End models might be found in a high street. These are: a bus depot (N8763), taxi rank cafe (N8761), car service and repair shop (N8765), car sales Portacabin (N8762), a 1930s bungalow (N8752), modern telephone kiosks (N8760) and a small stone cottage (N8753).
