Graham Farish Class 108 371-876GF Class 108 blue .jpg (44741 bytes)

Bachmann had planned a new Class 101 in their Graham Farish N gauge range but ran into trouble with the original tooling. It therefore got overtaken by the planned Class 108 which is now available. Our sample is in BR Rail blue with the cars numbered 'M50976' (DMBS) and 'M56224' (DTC).

Once again, Bachmann have delivered a cracking good model which nicely captures the look of these heritage DMUs. The blinds are illuminated and carry the names 'Blackpool' and 'Kirkham' and it also has working directional head and tail lights. The two cars have nicely detailed interiors with orange seats in the 1st class compartment and blue seats in the rest of the train. The cab interiors are also detailed but without crew and the windows of the non-1st class areas carry no-smoking symbols. The cab windows have separate wipers and the underframe is very detailed. The pipework on the roof of the DTC is exceptionally fine.

Weight is provided by a large metal block surrounding the motor which protrudes part way into the seating area but this is difficult to avoid if good running quality is required. The motor itself is very quiet. There is also provision for a DCC decoder to be added.
