Hornby ZBA 'Rudd'
Hornby have recently released three brand new wagons which all have a similar chassis. These are the 'Rudd', 'Clam' and 'Tope'. The Rudd comes both as a solo pristine model and as a set of three weathered wagons. The solo model (R6415) is numbered DB972007. R6416 contains the three 'weathered' versions which are numbered DB972004, DB972005 and DB972006. All four wagons are in Departmental grey+yellow livery and carry the ZBA TOPS coding.
The real 'Rudd' is a 21T ballast and sleeper wagon, converted from a 21T hopper coal wagon of the late 1950s. It has three drop-down doors each side. Marcroft Engineering and C.C.Crump produced 800 of these wagons in the 1990s. The rebuilt wagon was air-braked.
